Village of Departure is the starting area of the game, representing a safe hub where Lumisa Kosugi can talk to various NPCs, purchase items at shops, and replenish health at the hot springs. Led by Elder Xelpud, the village has been turned into an attraction for tourists to visit what remains of the La-Mulana Ruins since its collapse. The map still largely resembles the Surface field from the previous game with some changes to reflect the time passed since then; most notably, Xelpud's humble tent has been replaced with a lavish castle. Players will begin and regularly return here throughout the game.
At the very beginning of the game, she tells you to get a Hand Scanner from her shop. She also gives you a Map. She'll permanently move to her shop in (C-4) the first time you enter it.
If you turn down her offer for the Map, you'll need to get it from Xelpud.
Above the hot spring, partially hidden. Requires a certain treasure to reach.

When starting a new game, the player will begin in this small area. Though part of the Village of Departure, it is not contiguous with the rest of the map and has no map or room names of its own. To avoid confusion with other map coordinates, these cells are labeled Y-1 and Z-1, respectively.
